THE MILK GIRL
I GOT THE BLUES series
The series I GOT THE BLUES is a tribute to the legacy left to us by our Dutch painters. Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer inspired me for this collection.
The paintings are painted in Delftware.
The Netherlands is the land of blue, although we have an orange royal family, our history is mainly blue coloured. We are a land of water and a land of (Delft) blue porcelain.
There are many historical facts hidden in these paintings, making them a journey into the days of yore with the eyes of today.
This painting reflects Dutch hospitality against a background of our history depicted in Delft blue tiles, which continue in the blouse of the milkmaid.
Our history of tulips, windmills but also the VOC, which brought prosperity to our country, but let us not forget that this was often also at the expense of others. In these times it is good not to forget that.
