Geisha
Ubuntu
My collection UBUNTU is inspired by Nelson Mandela's philosophy. The South African wisdom that we are all connected: WE are more than I am.
For this series, I went on a journey with my brushes. The focus is on so many wonderful, different people living together in one world. In the 'IK' era we live in now, I think it is important to show how beautiful WE are.
Geisha is painted with oil paint and acrylic over parchment paper. The combination of material and colour accentuate the fragile yet strong character of the traditional Japanese lady companion.
