The house sparrow is a simple bird that has occupied the same habitats as humans for thousands of years. These birds like to nest in cavities in our homes and are adapted to digest grains (meant for human consumption) and thus use them as a food source. If you have ever been outside, this bird is familiar to you. But the very fact that they are so normal makes them special. The house sparrow belongs to humans; this portrait is an affirmation of this fact.
This photo was taken in a city in the early evening. The house sparrows migrate through the city in groups and found this bush a suitable resting place. The simple background is, as you may be able to tell from the colour. A heavily faded brick wall.
