The historic bridge: De Hef
De Hef a well-known bridge located in Rotterdam, De Hef was opened to incoming and outgoing train traffic on 31 October 1927. The bridge had this task until 24 September 1993, due to the commissioning of the Willemsspoortunnel, which was to take over De Hef's duties. The bridge was actually supposed to be demolished like the rest of the route, but the people of Rotterdam did not agree, and went into protest, with success. The bridge has since become a national monument, and the south tower, by installing a nesting box, serves as a nesting place for peregrine falcons.
