A piece of the city of Rotterdam's history stands proudly above a section of the River Maas; the bridge De Hef.
A steel colossus of sections and rivets. An icon from another time. A true museum piece worth leaving where it stands.
To show people that a bridge does not have to be built from steel cables alone.
How many ships would have sailed under this bridge. How much cargo would have been carried under it? How many people would have walked across this bridge? Wonderful to dream away about.
This evening, there is a nice puddle at the quay. The remnant of a rainstorm earlier in the day. I put the camera in front of it and this image appears in the viewfinder. Time to press the shutter button and enjoy it.
And if you look closely, you can see not only De Hef, but also the Queen's Bridge and the Erasmus Bridge in the image.
Hans de Waay - enjoying landscapes & the city
Landscapes are beautiful to hang on the wall. You get out. Lovely to look at and dream away.
I try to capture the most beautiful moments. Often on the edges of the day. In the morning or in the middle of the night.
