We are on our way by boat from Lauwersoog to Rottumeroog. It is a windless day, slightly hazy on the horizon. A vast landscape consisting of nothing but water and sky.

And then all of a sudden, a little dot in the distance approaches us. It turns out to be a fishing boat. A boat full of nets and a huge flock of birds following…
