The crossing is a beautiful bridge that crosses the river Waal. This bridge had to relieve the Waal bridge of the heavy traffic that was crossing it. The crossing also reminds us of the 48 men of the US Army 504th Infantry Regiment of the 82d Airborne Brigade, who were killed in 1944.
