Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘The Chip Thief – The Surveillance Operation’ by Christiane Schott

For now, the scene still seems completely harmless. A quiet moment by the sea, a white sailing boat on the horizon, an elegant woman in bright orange – and a bag of chips, which she holds in her hands with utter confidence.

A mistake.

Because right in front of her, someone has already taken up position. Unobtrusively. Patiently. Highly focused.

The seagull is still keeping a polite distance. It’s watching. It’s analysing. It’s waiting for the right moment. Its gaze is fixed firmly on its prey – because whilst the woman still believes she’s simply enjoying a relaxing day by the sea,
Phase 1 of the chip heist: the surveillance.

She still has no idea. The seagull, on the other hand, already knows everything.

This humorous scene is rendered in a modern, figurative visual language with echoes of editorial illustration and contemporary portraiture. Flat shapes and a gently painterly texture lend the motif its almost timeless quality. The warm, intense orange creates a striking contrast to the cool sea blue, off-white and delicate cream tones. The sailing boat and the horizon are deliberately kept minimal, leaving plenty of space for the actual star of the show. That is, the seagull, of course.

The scene is inspired by a personal experience of the artist, who once fell victim to a seagull raid on Juist – one that was as brazen as it was precisely executed. She has been processing the incident in her very own way ever since. 😉
