The Antwerp skyline just before sunrise II | Urban photography by Daan Duvillier | Atmospheric cityscape & landscape prints

The horizon slowly turns golden whilst the city is still shrouded in silence. The first rays of sunlight break through the clouds and buildings, like a gentle promise of a new day. Here, Antwerp reveals itself in a delicate balance between stillness and movement.

This skyline captures a powerful interplay of old and new. The warm glow of the sunrise subtly emphasises the silhouettes of cranes, which, like lines in the sky, mark the rhythm of change. At the same time, the tall residential tower provides a modern anchor point in the composition, whilst the lower roofs and historic structures form a layered cityscape. The sky, filled with scattered clouds, filters the light and gives the scene a soft, almost painterly quality.

The combination of warm tones and clean lines makes this piece an excellent fit for a modern interior, such as a living room or office space. It also adds a sense of urban sophistication to a hotel lobby or contemporary workplace. The balance between tranquillity and energy makes it a versatile image that continues to intrigue. A stylish choice for those who wish to subtly bring the soul of the city into their home.

-- This photograph is part of a series: During March and April 2025, I was part of the film crew for the third season of Hidden Assets. Much of the filming took place in the former police station on Oudaan in Antwerp. This location offered an exceptional view of the city. In the early morning, we were treated to beautiful sunrises on several occasions, with the skyline slowly revealing itself in soft, warm light. This photo series brings together those unique moments: Antwerp in complete silence, just before and during the dawn of the day.
