Colourful watercolour painting of the Eierland Lighthouse on Texel from the Vuurtorenweg.
Handmade watercolour painting by designer and painter Ricardo Bouman.
This painting is part of the collection 'Netherlands in Watercolour' and is a painting in the category Impressionism, Illustration, Line drawing and Maritime.
The painting is a so-called 'Line & Wash' which is characterised by a black line drawing drawn with a crown pen and waterproof black ink coloured with a pigment-rich watercolour (watercolour).
The quick pen and brush strokes create dynamism and a playful look and in this case, in terms of colour use, soft pastel colours (pastel shades) were chosen, subtly depicting the dune landscape and the blooming purple heather flowers. The composition shows the Vuurtorenweg (lighthouse road) where the strong perspective makes you feel as if you are being taken in the direction of the lighthouse.
Texel is my favourite Dutch holiday destination and I have been to the Eierland Lighthouse several times in beautiful, sunny or just stormy weather. When I am there, I always photograph the lighthouse and surrounding houses and the Texel dune landscape.
This painting is therefore also a compsition of one of my own photographic images.
I also painted this same composition with different weather conditions. in this case, a warm balmy summer evening.
The Eierland lighthouse stands on the northernmost tip of the island of Texel and was completed in 1864.
