About ‘Terracotta Abstract Painting: Soaring Woman in Colour’ by Surreal Media

The first thing that struck me as this work took shape was that round, coral-coloured form rising up in the top left-hand corner — almost like a face turning towards the light, surrounded by plumes of magenta and purple that fan out like petals. Next to it, to the right of centre, a fan of cream-white and sandy-coloured brushstrokes unfolds, interspersed with a single olive-green stroke that maintains the sense of calm. And then, almost hidden between those two shapes, a thin stream of gold runs downwards — a detail I deliberately let trickle in, like a final spark that lingers.
The idea arose from a Mediterranean feeling: earth, sun and tranquillity, the colours of an afternoon in the south. Stylists often recommend pairing terracotta and olive green to create precisely that relaxed, sun-drenched atmosphere, and I wanted to capture that feeling — something rounded, flowing and softly sensual, as if a shape were just lifting itself out of the colour.
The atmosphere is vibrant, warm and tangible. On the left, the canvas fades into a deep indigo blue, but this is quickly taken over by warm shades of pink and orange, until it cools again on the right to teal. That shift from warm to cool gives the work a sense of movement, as if the colour itself were breathing.
What I wanted to convey: joy, energy, a touch of wonder. Not a heavy narrative, but rather a feeling you recognise instantly the moment you glance at it — and one you can rediscover time and again.
Technically, it is a digital artwork, designed to resemble thick, deeply grooved layers of paint with a relief effect on the canvas.
At home, this works well in a living room or dining room where you already like to incorporate colour, but also in a kitchen with plenty of natural light, or an office where you could do with a bit of energy. It suits people who love travelling, the sun, or simply a touch of opulence in their interior.
