This mesmerising photo was taken during a sunset over the volcanic landscape of Leirhnjukur, Iceland, with the Krafla Power Station somewhere behind the mountains. The sun has just disappeared below the horizon, and the sky is filled with a soft pastel orange glow. The mountains, covered in a thin layer of snow, stretch into the distance, while the brown grass bravely wriggles through the snow. The contrast between the white carpet of snow and the brown tones of the grass creates a beautiful natural image.
The mountains themselves, shrouded in a light layer of snow, are interspersed with powerful black peaks that occasionally break the horizon. This quiet moment, captured in the transition from day to night, captures the pristine beauty of the Icelandic landscape and the mysterious silence it brings with it. It is an invitation to pause for a moment and take in the pure, unspoilt nature of this magical island.
