Abandoned farmhouse in the Rhône – a French summer’s evening by Fotografiecor .nl

This composition captures the tranquil moment when the sunset bathes the Rhône Valley in a golden glow. The technique focuses on the balance between the harsh textures of the stone farmhouse and the soft, almost tactile stubble of the harvested sunflowers in the foreground. The raking light emphasises the depth of the landscape, whilst the warm colour palette of orange, gold and soft brown creates a dreamy, sultry atmosphere characteristic of a southern French summer.

This image was created during a quest to discover the raw, authentic beauty of France, far off the beaten track. It is the silence of an abandoned farmhouse that takes centre stage here; a monument to time and transience. As a photographer, my aim is to convey not only the location, but above all the emotion of a summer’s evening in the Rhône Valley. This photograph is an ode to the slow pace of life and the aesthetics of the French countryside.

This work is best appreciated in a large format, for example as a high-quality gallery print on fine-art paper or aluminium. The warm light and rich textures fit perfectly into a modern-rustic or industrial interior, where the print acts as a soothing, mood-setting element in the room.
