This photo was taken from the Zalmhaven tower, looking west. A flaming sunset over the Rotterdam port, where the energy transition is in full swing: we can still see chimneys and plumes of smoke but also dozens of wind turbines. Dark clouds add some drama.
Of course, this photo benefit mostly from the contrast between the narrow strip of bright, fiery colours and the dark areas above and below.
The buildings in the foreground, obscured by dusk, can only be named by a connoisseur. However, we do clearly see the river Maas and the traffic on the Westzeedijk. And, of course, the silhouette of Rotterdam's city icon: the Euromast.
