The work "Sunset Sail" is a powerful, geometric composition consisting of differently coloured triangles and depicting a symbolic landscape at sunset. In this abstract depiction, the viewer looks across a stylised mountain landscape to a sailing ship sailing in the distance in front of the setting sun.
In the upper centre, a large, bright yellow hemisphere dominates the scene - the abstracted sun, gently tilting behind the horizon. Half of it is criss-crossed by violet and yellow triangles, representing the refraction of light and the last rays of the sun. In the foreground, stylised mountain silhouettes are formed from diagonally arranged triangles. These consist of pink and purple tones that alternate with cool purple accents and lend depth to the picture.
"Sunset Sail" plays with contrasts and transitions: Warmth meets coolness, light meets shadow, movement meets calm. The scene shows how reduced forms can be used to create a complex, poetic pictorial mood - a calm, almost meditative moment on the water, captured in pure geometry.
The combination of nature and geometry takes centre stage in my work. I am inspired by the harmonious structures and vibrant diversity of the natural world and translate these into clear, geometric forms. Symmetry plays a central role here: for me, it is the key to interpreting the.. Read more…
