Along the Ameland coast, a row of wooden poles stand like silent sentinels between sea and beach. In front of them is a shallow pool of water, created after the tide, in which the sky reflects with an almost unreal clarity. Clouds, colour and light merge into the sand.
The reflection in the water intensifies the contrast between sky and earth, between movement and stillness. The soft evening light colours the horizon orange, pink and blue, while the wooden poles in the water form a rhythmic pattern that leads the eye to the sea.
This image captures a rare moment in which everything seems to coincide: light, timing, structure and space. Ameland shows its dreamy side here, a place where silence meets natural perfection.
An ode to detail, to looking and to the passing of the day.
