About "Sunrise over the salt pan"

About the artwork

The picture glows in an ethereal silence as the sun slowly sets on the horizon of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The sky is bathed in a brilliant orange colour that spreads gently across the vast, dry salt plain. The flat, endless expanse of the salt pan appears almost like a calm sea stretching to the horizon, changing in shades from lavender blue to deep violet. The air is clear and the calm morning mood is almost tangible, a quiet reverence for unspoilt nature. The picture captures the moment when nature prepares to greet the day - a breathtaking spectacle of calm and clarity.

The Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana are a secluded place of extraordinary beauty. They are among the largest salt pans in the world and cover an area of around 16,000 square kilometres. This fascinating landscape, which is part of the Makgadikgadi salt pan complex, is located in the northern Kalahari Desert in Botswana. This ecosystem is the remnant of a prehistoric super lake that once covered the central Kalahari basin. The pans fill with water seasonally, making them a temporary oasis for a variety of wildlife, including flamingos and zebras. The area is known not only for its dramatic, desert-like landscapes, but also for its cultural significance and archaeological remains dating back to the Stone Age.
