A few kilometres below Freiburg is the town of Münstertal. The town overlooks the second highest mountain in the Black Forest, the Belchen. Münstertal is home to the St Trudpert Monastery, seen here in the photo. After the alarm went off at 4am and I took a hike of a few kilometres to reach the top of Mount Köpfle, I was in time for this sunrise, with the sun's rays slowly beginning to illuminate the mountains on the left. Atop the mountain, it is peaceful. You only hear the birds waking up and the cow bells tinkling.
