"Un dimanche après-midi à l'Île de la Grande Jatte" (1884-1886) is perhaps Seurat's most famous work. It shows people relaxing on an island in the Seine near Paris. The painting is special because of its extensive use of pointillism.
Georges Seurat (1859-1891) was a French post-impressionist painter known for his innovative use of dots in a technique called pointillism or divisionism.
