Drenthe is home to a lot of history, as we all know. Forestry Gieten-Borger is no exception. At the beginning of the 20th century, trees were planted here for timber production. During construction, old boulders from the Ice Age were uncovered, which still serve as markers for the forest plots today, and the boulder road you walk along is also made of these stones. Today, the forest is not only an important source of timber, but also a popular spot for hikers and cyclists.
There are lots of footpaths through this forestry and I have taken many walks. One of the walks is the Knopenrondje Drouwenerveld. Using walking nodes, I wandered for hours through the forest, across Drouwenerveld and past fens. I witnessed a magical sunrise that stayed with me for a long time.
I took this photo during this walk. I walked along a wide sandy path while sunbeams made their way between the trees. An unforgettable picture.
