Photography in the forest is always a fun challenge, especially when the leaves are off the trees and the sun is making its way through. The effect often looks like a theatre play with the light peeping through the trees in the form of a spotlight.
So too in this photo, which I took in the forestry area of Sint Anthonis in North Brabant. The trees are nicely unarranged and askew, creating a varied interplay of lines for me.
By transforming the photo to black and white, all attention is drawn to the build-up of the structures and, in my opinion, that is what image-making is all about after all.
The scene creates an image, which invites you to look further and further into the photo. There is more and more to see as you keep looking. In short, a photo that comes into its own in an environment where there is time to quietly observe the surroundings and indulge your gaze with a beautiful, tranquil image.
