Havana is the capital of Cuba. The city has a troubled history. Once it was the most important port for the Spaniards in the New World. Pirates plundered the city and burned it down. The English conquer it and trade it again for Florida.
The architecture in Havana is diverse. And runs gracefully into each other. Especially in Havana Vieja, the old part. Like church squares and fortresses from the 16th century colonial era. Cathedrals and facades of houses from the 17th and 18th century baroque. In other parts of the city there are villas and theatres dripping with 19th century neoclassical and neogothic.
