Budva is a popular seaside resort on the Adriatic and the tourist heart of Montenegro. The old car-free city center is, just like in Kotor, surrounded by a medieval city wall that houses picturesque streets, corners and inviting terraces.
As far as we were concerned, there was not a single 'dull moment', during our walk along the city wall, where you have a beautiful view of the inner city but also of the old port of Budva which is filled with large yachts, one even bigger and more luxurious than the other. Much cozier than the modern buildings and shopping centers you find outside the old town.
Karen Nijst has lived in and near her beloved hometown of Maastricht for many years.
