About "Straw hats for sale"

About the artwork

Cuba, an island with many faces. Sunshine, cheerfulness, beautiful nature, lots of countryside. Music and dance, too, of course. And faces we tourists hardly see, if at all.

These piled-up straw hats were on a table in Trinidad. Not in a market, but as the only stall in a narrow street. At an intersection with a wide pavement. A spot close to the main square, so many tourists passed by. A natural flow so it was never crowded at the little table and you had the idea that the hats just happened to leave there, especially for you.

For me, they represent a lot of what I saw in Cuba. Of course the sun and the many ways natural materials are used. But also the countryside with its harsh sun, where a straw hat is in place. The attention to detail, with a ribbon and beautiful weaving.

And, of course, the chance to earn some money from tourists. Which happened almost everywhere in a smooth way. Because say it yourself, when it's hot and the sun shines on your head, don't you want a nice straw hat that provides shade and coolness? I think so ;-)

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
