To take my photography skills to the next level, I like to attend workshops. So I had signed up for a three-day photography bootcamp on Ameland. We were taught by well-known photographers and one of the assignments was to make a triptych about Ameland's beach. Now that didn't seem so difficult to me, were it not for the fact that on that one day it was extremely windy and raining. However, I did not want to make it easy for myself by going into the nearby forest to photograph as an extra option, so I persevered on the beach. The sand was blown across the beach and the sea sloshed against the breakwaters. With my back to the wind, I tried to take photos. To catch less wind, I then sat down on the beach to take photos lower to the ground. I managed to take a photo of sand being blown across the beach. As the second photo of my triptych, I wanted to take a close up of a sand texture. A plethora of shapes could be found on the beach. I found a structure of several layers, eroded by the wind. Soaking wet and chilled, in returned to the hotel. After putting on dry clothes, the challenge was to turn these photos into an attractive triptych. I asked one of the accompanying photographers how I could put the photos together in layers, just like the structures on the beach. He helped me combine these layers and adjust the transparency so that the photos together form a nice whole of the Storm on Ameland.
