About ‘Storm echoes along Nieuwesluis’ by Sander Poppe

The photograph Storm Echoes along Nieuwesluis impressively demonstrates the power of the North Sea in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. A long, rolling wave moves towards the beach at Nieuwesluis, not far from Breskens on the rugged coast of Zeeland. The movement swings between the rows of posts, just as the tide begins to turn. A heavy cloud cover hangs over this dynamic scene. Yet in the distance, a narrow strip of yellow light breaks through. This subtle glow gives the landscape an almost cinematic atmosphere and shows how the day after the storm is still full of energy. The storm itself is over, but its echo remains palpable along the Dutch coast.

This landscape photo was taken one day after storm Benjamin in 2025. During the storm, I tried to capture many images, but those photos were disappointing. Landscape photography requires timing, patience and the right conditions. The right light, a strong composition and a sense of calm must all come together. When that is missing, it is often impossible to take the perfect photo, although chance can sometimes work in your favour.

After the storm, I travelled along the coast of Zeeland again. The wind was still strong and caused a wild North Sea. Yet the transition to calm was already visible. Storm echoes along Nieuwesluis show this perfectly: the sea remains impressive, but serenity is slowly returning.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
