A stork (white stork) lands on its nest on a cliff at Cape Sardao in Portugal. It is the only place in the world known for storks building their nests in the cliffs. The stork has its wings stretched wide. The nest covers the top of a cliff, washed by turquoise waves with white spray. The sea is rough and impressively shows the hostile environment in which this stork defies the forces of the elements. Made curious by a small article about these storks, I set out on a trip to Portugal to find, observe and photograph this special spectacle of nature. The cliffs are close to a well-known viewpoint. However, the nests are partly hidden behind rocks and you have to spend some time to find them. It is fascinating to watch these birds preparing the ground for the birth and rearing of new life amidst the harsh landscape and climate of the Atlantic. It conveys a sense of awe at the power of nature.
