Steller's sea eagle (Haliaeetus pelagicus) is one of the largest sea eagles, belonging to the genus Haliaeetus. This bird of prey was validly described in 1811 by the Prussian naturalist Peter Simon Pallas as Aquila pelagica. In many languages, the bird is named after the German naturalist Georg Wilhelm Steller, who had previously (but invalidly) described the bird of prey as Aquila marina.
