This was once the main staircase of a Portuguese villa in the countryside, part of a working estate. Although it stood empty for decades, its design cues still speak volumes. The hand-carved wooden railings, the soft pink walls and, most strikingly, the stained-glass skylight above it, probably a bold and modern addition at the time.
The colours of the glass still catch the daylight in a quiet way, while the rest of the space fades into dust and shadow. Walking through places like this feels like leafing through a forgotten chapter of someone's life.
