"Spud The Piper on the top of the Old Pack Horse Bridge"
Spud lives in the Scottish Highlands near the town of Carrbridge and is a local celebrity who regularly performs on the Old Pack Horse Bridge with his bagpipes. Here he performed with the setting sun in the background and touched everyone present with his pure sounds that echoed across the bridge.
Bridge history:
This famous Scottish bridge dates back to 1717.
The packhorse bridge was built to enable burials across the River Dulnain to Duthil church. Brigadier General Alexander Grant commissioned the construction of the bridge. Stonemason John Niccelsone built the bridge at Lynne of Dalrachney and the cost of £100 was paid from the allowances of Duthil church. The bridge was completed in 1717 .The bridge also provided a way for traders and locals to cross the river. It is the oldest known stone bridge in the Scottish Highlands.
