It always starts with an empty table and a stack of magazines. With a few colours in mind, I simply start collecting. Some images are simply most beautiful when torn into strips. Fragments of a story then emerge between the jagged lines; told differently to each viewer.
In a multi-colour collage, balance is very important. Although strips are allowed to stand out, they should work together; in colour, texture and image.
In this collage, the strip 'sea' in the middle is an eye-catcher. From there, your eye travels through all kinds of 'spring' strips; from blurred green trees, the pink edge of a book, a fallen cactus and on to houses from a bird's point of view.
This work is made in A5 format. All images are hand torn.
