This is one of my favourite photos's this summer. I discovered a small nature reserve where very few people come. Quite unique in the busy Netherlands.
While wandering around, I came across this small firefly. Almost motionless, it remained sitting on a flower, so I 'm finely able to admire it. It stayed like that for quite a while, occasionally slurping the nectar from the plant. I felt privileged to be able to watch the little butterfly for so long.
I had actually walked into the area to take photos'of birds, which is why I had my huge telephoto lens with me. This allowed me to keep a decent distance without disturbing the butterfly. Zooming in considerably created a beautiful bokeh in the background.
For me, this work exudes a serene calmness and fits well in a space where you want to unwind and relax. A space with lots of green and natural tones.
