On an early Sunday morning, the low-lying sun squeezes its first rays past some buildings in the centre of The Hague. Because only a small ray of light fits between the buildings, strong contrasts are created between the illuminated parts and the things that remain in shadow. This particularly emphasises the horizontal lines of the pillars and window frames. Two early shoppers - the man carries an empty shopping bag - are on their way from the station to the city centre. Their silhouettes stand out sharply against the light background.
