Watercolour painting of a cityscape in a realistic painting style showing an old shoemaker shop in the city of Lyon in France.
The composition shows a cityscape of an alley with a narrow street, a pavement, a street lamp and buildings with old wooden doors. In the centre of the image is a characteristic old shoe shop with an old wooden shop window in a striking red colour. The shop has a few flowers with red leaves to brighten it up. The door of the shop is open and welcomes you in 'in a somewhat mysterious way'.
As a painter, I love French medieval street scenes and therefore this painting belongs to one of my favourite paintings of this genre, which is also part of my own private collection.
This work was painted in 2009 with watercolour and acrylic paint on A3-size watercolour paper. I then coated the painting with varnish and framed the work.
This painting has been photographed in high resolution and is now available through my webshop as an alt print on desired materials and sizes.
