Drenthe heath sheep on the Balloër field
The flock of Drentse heath sheep on the Balloërveld is the largest flock in Drenthe. In 1981 shepherd Albert Koopman founded the flock and in 2001 Marianne Duinkerken joined it. Together they form the "Herders van Balloo". By order of the Forestry Commission the Herders van Balloo manage the Balloërveld, situated near Balloo / Rolde in Drenthe. This landscape management is the main task of their company.
