Shamanic mask with purple feathers (AI) (tough, mysterious, powerful, portrait) by Natalie Bruns

This watercolour painting depicts a shamanic-inspired mask with broad, feather-like forms that open outwards like wings. The dark, almond-shaped eyes lend the work a mysterious presence, whilst the soft brushstrokes and transparent layers create a sense of movement and depth. What makes this painting special is the balance between strength and vulnerability: the mask appears protective, yet also light and almost floating.

The colour palette consists of soft dusky pink, lilac and mauve tones, combined with deep aubergine and plum-purple accents. This creates a dreamy, spiritual atmosphere that feels both warm and mystical.

Shamanic cultures are found in various parts of the world and are often strongly connected to nature, rituals, animals, ancestors and spiritual symbolism. Within such imagery, feathers are often associated with air, freedom, protection and the connection between earth and spirit.

This painting is part of a series of different masks. Inspired by, amongst others, Inca, Aztec and shamanic masks, as well as Wayang puppets. All the paintings can be found in my personal shop in the ‘creative mix’ folder.

In an interior, this work brings a unique combination of tranquillity, mystery and worldly elegance. It is well suited to those who love travel, symbolism, spirituality, world cultures and modern art with a gentle yet powerful aura.

My travels and interest in other cultures have inspired me to create this painting with the help of AI.
