An abstract watercolour with lots of movement and expression. A base of watercolour paint complemented by various types of pen and ink. The pen actually follows and complements the paint, a kind of dance between solid and liquid in which the viewer discovers something new each time.
I choose colour combinations in watercolour and let them flow softly into each other without losing their colour strength. I look for expression that is balanced so that the whole image remains exciting.
I then complement it with various media such as pen, pastel, ink and coloured pencil. I let myself be guided by the watercolour and supplement where 'necessary'. It is therefore purely by feel, a natural balance between empty and filled.
In this work, I wanted to work with less contrast, a softer form of linework, hence the white line as a base over the watercolour. The whole is rounder, softer and flowing but still interesting. As if the sun starts shining after the rain. Like a soft mist over the over a flower garden.
In addition to my work as an interior designer, I really enjoy unleashing my creativity on paintings but also on furniture, vases, wooden masks, bowls, etc.
Interior artist might therefore be a better description than designer or artist, because why choose?..
