In my work I like to look for special or funny moments in the everyday. This is typically one of those moments, where I photographed a Scottish Highlander exactly at the moment she stuck out her tongue and snapped her head back.
The beautiful brownish-red animal was standing up to her belly in the tall beach grass. She was itching and wanted to use her horns to scratch herself on the back. As she made this move, I froze this funny moment.
In the Westduin Park between Scheveningen and Kijkduin, a herd of Scottish Highlanders has been released to graze the dune landscape. The hairy cattle roam freely, so I regularly encounter them when I walk to the beach.
