Scottish Highland Cow – Dreamy landscape of the IJssel Delta

by SR Blaauw

This work depicts a tranquil, almost picturesque scene. A herd of Scottish Highland cattle stands partly in the water, scattered along the shore of a tranquil lake. The animals seem frozen in time, surrounded by a soft haze of mist and pastel shades. The water’s surface subtly reflects the sky, whilst the background consists of a row of trees and bushes that fade into the diffuse light. It is precisely this light mist and the gentle transition of colours that give the image an almost fairy-tale-like quality.

The inspiration for this work arose during an early hour of the day, when the landscape was shrouded in a combination of mist and soft morning light. It was a rare moment in which tranquillity, nature and atmosphere came together perfectly. By playing with light and applying a slight softening effect during post-processing, an attempt has been made to capture that dreamlike experience.

The atmosphere of this piece is calm, serene and almost meditative. It invites you to slow down and reflect, as if you were briefly escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

In an interior, this piece brings tranquillity and harmony. The soft colours and balanced composition make it particularly suitable for spaces where relaxation is key, such as a living room, bedroom or workspace. The piece will particularly appeal to lovers of nature, tranquillity and subtle beauty.
