About ‘Lighthouse off the coast of Texel’ by SR Blaauw

This photograph captures an iconic corner of the Netherlands: a sturdy red lighthouse rising proudly above the Texel landscape. The lighthouse forms the powerful focal point of the image, whilst at its base stands a row of charming little houses with warm orange roof tiles. The small details – such as the walkers on the path and the low fencing along the road – bring the scene to life and convey a sense of scale and tranquillity.

The soft colours of the sky and the light-coloured landscape create a calm and open atmosphere. The image was captured from a slight distance, giving the whole scene an almost painterly composition in which nature, architecture and human presence come together harmoniously.
