On a stormy evening - 15 September 2025 - I stood face to face with nature at the Delta Works at Neeltje Jans, on Schouwen-Duiveland in Zeeland. Storm Amy made the sea roar and the wind sing. As the sun set, the sky filled with layers of orange, gold and violet.
The power of the water was intense; foam heads broke against the rocks and salt splashed high. My camera and I were soaked in sea salt, and a thorough cleaning of my lens followed after every few photos. But the result was worth it: pure, honest images of a moment that won't come a second time.
Despite my body needing to recover for days, it mentally re-energised me. Standing alone there, fully focused on the horizon, felt liberating.
This photograph captures the balance between ruggedness and beauty. A powerful piece of wall art that fills any space with the energy and colour of that special storm night.
My passion is to capture the beauty of the landscape through photography. In recent years, I have visited several coastlines, as that is where my passion lies above all else.
