How can we ensure that our old fighter planes are preserved and not just in a museum but airworthy, so that during air shows in Europe as many people as possible can enjoy the great designs of aircraft manufacturer Saab.
A great institution by Swedish Historic Flight; they own all the old aircraft the Swedish Air Force has flown and even better, they are still airworthy!
Like this fantastic SAAB 37 Viggen.
Viggen is Swedish for Lightning Bolt and is the successor to SAAB 35 Dragons, of which a fantastic image is also available to order in the web shop.
It was flown in Sweden from 1971 and Sweden was the only customer of this magnificent aircraft. In 2003, the Viggen was retired for good and was replaced by the SAAB Grippen. Unfortunately, I have never had this aircraft in front of the lens, maybe it will succeed in this new year.
This aircraft now no longer has a military registration but has become a civil aircraft.
I saw this Viggen during the Belgian Airforce days in 2023 at Kleine Brogel Airbase.
