About ‘Rust & Rust in El Cotillo in black and white’ by Rene van Heerdt

The wall stood there as if it had nothing to prove. Peeling white, veins of cracks that had slowly chosen their own path. The wooden shutter hung a little crooked, weathered by salt and wind, with rust spots that revealed that time was not an enemy here, but a fellow inhabitant.

In El Cotillo, everything seems to move just a little slower. As if the village has decided that haste is a choice, not a necessity. This wall was part of that. It didn't tell a grand story, but whispered small ones. About afternoons when the light was too bright to stay indoors. About evenings when the sea was still audible, even when you couldn't see it.

The hatch had once been closed, perhaps to keep out the heat, perhaps to protect something. Now it did nothing more than exist. And that was precisely what made it so powerful. The rust was not decay, but proof of loyalty to the place. Every stain, every crack had been given time to develop.

I stood still. Not to find the perfect composition, but to listen. Walls like these don't demand attention, they draw it to themselves. They show that beauty doesn't have to be smooth. That character comes from standing firm, even when everything around you changes. The photo is silent. But if you look longer, you can hear the wind. And perhaps, for a moment, the life that has rubbed against this place.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
