About ‘Kotor in Montenegro’ by Rene van Heerdt

Kotor in Montenegro is one of those places that makes an immediate impression. A beautiful medieval city, full of narrow streets, squares and walls that have clearly endured many centuries. In the evening, I walked around there with my wife. We feasted our eyes, but at the same time I noticed that it was difficult to really unwind. It was teeming with tourists. Everyone, like me, was looking for that one beautiful picture. Cameras up, wait a moment, move on again. The city was beautiful, but also crowded and restless.

That evening, we decided to do things differently. The alarm went off at five-thirty. Still sleepy, at six o'clock we stood in the centre of Kotor, which was completely silent. No people, no voices, just the soft morning light and the sound of our footsteps on the stones. For an hour and a half, I was able to photograph without even catching sight of anyone. That felt almost unreal.

In that early morning, Kotor showed itself from a very different side. Quiet, subdued, almost vulnerable. The city seemed to belong to itself for a moment, detached from schedules, cruises and day-trippers. The light fell beautifully along the facades, the streets gained depth and character.

In that moment, it felt like we were not travelling, but standing somewhere between time and place. Away from the present for a moment. You really imagine yourself in another world.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
