About ‘Taj Mahal - India’ by Rene van Heerdt

That morning at the Taj Mahal was early and hot. By 5.35am, I was already inside, along with other early visitors. There were people, but because of the size of the site, it didn't feel crowded anywhere. Everyone seemed to disperse by themselves, creating space for viewing.

My attention naturally went to the front and the water in front of it. Not because I had to, but because the image presented itself. The long basin lay calm, its surface almost smooth. The Taj Mahal reflected clearly, with just enough imperfection to keep it alive. The marble still had a soft tone, not bright, not yet claimed by the sun.

I stood for a moment and let it happen. Occasionally, someone would walk through the sculpture, small in proportion. Just that made the scale visible. The symmetry remained intact, the water brought everything together and kept drawing the gaze back to the centre.

It was not a moment of total silence, but of relative calm. Enough space to wait, to reframe, to not have to rush. The water played a leading role in this, without being dominant. It doubled the image, softened the light and gave balance.

Later, the crowds would increase and the water would lose its calm. But at this early hour, it was right. Not grand, not spectacular, but just right.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
