Rural tranquillity: Dried scabious in a veil of smoke by Marjolijn van den Berg

"Landelijke rust: Gedroogde Scabiosa in de sluier van rook" is a photograph of a beautiful Scabiosa flower head. The warm, natural, rustic colours create a calm, natural look.
Veils of smoke hang around the flower head. Through this smoke, you can still clearly see the brown background. The smoke creates a lovely texture in the background and lends a sense of natural tranquillity.
The shallow depth of field in this photograph creates a natural sense of depth. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see this clearly.
Getting the smoke under control and achieving the right thickness was quite a long process of experimentation, but it’s so much fun to do! As well as smoke, I also enjoy experimenting in my photography with elements such as water, droplets and reflections. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see where the focus lies and just how rich in detail this photo is.
Thanks to the simplicity and tranquillity of this photo, it would look excellent in a minimalist or rustic interior, for example. This piece would look stunning as wall art in the bedroom on an ArtFrame above the bed, as wallpaper in the hall to create a beautiful welcome, or simply above the sofa in the living room – on aluminium, for instance! It would also look lovely on the wall in a meeting room (business setting).
