The south pier in the sunset the racing cyclists returning home. The accumulated sand after a storm. The silhouettes of men on racing bikes sharply outlined against the sleek winter sky. There is always a beautiful work to photograph on the piers beaches and coasts of the Netherlands.
With my work as a street photographer, I show the rough, unpolished sides of city life. With my photographs, I try to capture the beauty of everyday moments. The viewer can then invent his or her own story to go with it. I also have a fondness for industrial environments, such as harbour sites and factory buildings, where traces of the industrial past are still present. In doing so, I try to photograph subtle details, using both digital and analogue cameras.
