Cañón del Mascarat, viewpoint between the steep rock faces. The imposing Mascarat Gorge is a popular destination for hikers on the Costa Blanca. It is located between the coastal towns of Calpe and Altea. The rock formations in this place fascinate me very much. The rock is shaped by erosion and the power of water. Over many millennia it has been shaped by Mother Nature.
I also find the combination of rocks and bridges very attractive. Since the gorge was a difficult barrier for people to pass through for a long time, three bridges and a tunnel have been built at this point. Since then, they have formed an important link between the two districts of Marina Alta and Marina Baixa. Beautiful nature meets the masterpieces of engineering.
Rocks bear the marks of time and at the same time stand for the timeless beauty in nature. When I stand between the craggy rock faces, I get an idea how powerful the forces of nature are. At this moment, the clocks seem to tick a little slower. I like to be inspired by the shapes, colours and abstract effect of the eroded rock. For this reason, I have dedicated a photo series to this special place.
The local walking routes in Calpe and Altea offer wonderful views of the mountains and cliffs of the Mediterranean coast. This photo is meant to bring the charm of the Costa Blanca and the abstract beauty of eroded rocks into your home.
