River landscape near Fortmond by SR Blaauw

A tranquil river winds its way through a serene landscape, whilst a blanket of blue and purple clouds lends the scene an almost picturesque quality. The smooth surface of the water subtly reflects the colours of the sky, enhancing the sense of tranquillity and space. Along the banks, trees and shrubs form a natural frame, with the warm autumnal hues contrasting beautifully with the cool air.

What makes this image special is the small detail of the grazing cows on the far side of the water. Not only do they give the landscape a sense of scale, but they also bring a touch of liveliness to an otherwise serene scene. On the far left of the horizon, a tall chimney rises above the trees, a subtle reminder of the area’s history and the interplay between nature and humankind.

This work was created during a quiet moment when the light was constantly shifting. The soft colours and long exposure create a dreamlike atmosphere that invites you to pause for a moment and let your mind wander. The image exudes a sense of balance: openness, tranquillity and a feeling of coming home to the Dutch river landscape.

Thanks to its harmonious colours and timeless appeal, this piece fits effortlessly into a wide range of interiors, from modern and minimalist to rustic and classic.
