I came across this rhino mum and daughter in Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania. They are part of a breeding programme to save the rhino population.
This photo is part of a safari trip in Tanzania I took in September 2024.
Mum and daughter stayed close together and looked straight into my lens. That's why I find this photo so powerful. The birds, which eat the parasites, are also numerous.
This is a black rhino, but mother and daughter appear to be almost brown. This is due to the surface of Mkomazi, which is very brown and rusty. In other parts of Tanzania, a rhino will look more grey. But that brown does make the photo very warm and ideal for an interior with brown tones.
